Mission of the Butler High School Library Media Program is:
· to instruct students and staff and empower them with the skills necessary to access, analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and present information and ideas
· to provide a collection rich with print and non-print resources which is reflective of the needs of our students and the curriculum
· to empower critical thinking and the ethical use of both information and ideas through collaboration with students and staff
· to provide instruction and professional development in a multitude of technological resources
· to foster and develop life-long learning and a love of reading
Students who score higher on tests tend to come from schools which have more library resource staff and more books, periodicals and videos, and
where the instructional role of the teacher-librarian and involvement in cooperative program planning and teaching is more prominent.
